Redhill
Location
In 1967 Redhill was an area situated on top of the mountain, which could overlook Simonstown, the houses consisted of brick, wood and iron. This community had a stream running through, this stream is known as elsiesriver. The stream helped vegetate this farming community, as in 1967 there was no sanitation facilities. This community consisted mostly of coloureds, the male population worked on the dockyard where as the female population took care of the households. The Levendall and Levendalls initially owned most of the land, until the government saw the potential in the dams and rivers found within the area and forced removals occurred . when a previous occupant of this area was asked how she would describe it, she responded by saying that this was a community that took care of one another.
