Lighthouse Fundraiser
Lighthouse Fundraiser
On 29 May 2023, a devastating incident occurred that set back the NSRI’s rescue efforts. One of the JetRIB vessels, worth approximately R650,000, was stolen, stripped for parts, and set ablaze. The inaugural False Bay Lighthouse Fundraiser which is a community inspired ocean event was hosted on the 2nd July.
It was an amazing community effort on Sunday 2nd July. Testament to what is possible when we all come together to play out part. The Museum was privileged to work alongside and to learn under the graceful guidance of jenny Cullinan and ClarelouiseThomas and Graham Bradford from the Fish Hoek Sports Club to organize an event like this.
Thank you to the Rotary Club Cape of Good Hope for assisting with registration and providing refreshments for all the volunteers.
Thank you to the Muizenberg Sea Scouts and Rovers , and the Fish Hoek Scouts for assisting with the walk and ensuring that all the walkers were safe.
To the Strandfontein and Fish Hoek lifeguards for
volunteering to be safety officers during the swim and CMR for being on standby
with emergency services. And last but not least the NSRI Station 16 and Station
10.
